Excerpts
Dublin-1879, A meeting of the Society of United Irishmen at the Four-Leaf Clover-on the street in front of a large crowd gathered: Lord Gratton waved and got down from the tabletop podium and sat. Samuel Neilson, the linen magnate, stood up on the makeshift podium to speak. He began with, “Ladies and gentlemen, we have our difference of opinion. Our outlooks may differ. But the collective good for Ireland’s future lies in our patience and perseverance to teach, to share an understanding of a higher good. The good of the ‘whole’ is what is best. There is time for it and that time begins now!” another thunderous applause followed.
The Picnic shared by Nel O’Donnell and Michael O’Dwyer—their first date After some bread with honey and tea shared by all, the courtship couple mounted Goodnight and waved goodbye. The hounds went with them. They wanted to see what was in the picnic basket and were going to run up the hill as far as needed to find out. They did not smell so well but rather had to visualize everything. A picnic at the booley house would have been perfect had a downpour not started, or maybe just the opposite was true. The soaking wet couple were laughing in the rain, soaked through and through.
The Defender raid on the Baron’s flock of sheep in order to assist the tenant farmers with their increases in rents. The raiders have been spotted unknowingly by the British redcoats on patrol in the area. Jimmy O’Day is the trailer guard charged with alerting the Defender team of any danger: The Sergeant stated. “First things first, I want to catch as many of these croppie bastards and question them, then deliver them to the magistrate. Now let’s go get the job done, men!” The initial pursuit group trotted out on their route as the Sergeant’s group, tasked with surrounding and capturing the rear scout followed in a few minutes. The fairies must have been with little Jimmy that night.
